Eight Teams Through To 15th Gafaar Bolowotan Memorial Gold Cup Quarter Finals

Eight teams have qualified for the quarter finals of the 15th edition of the Gafaar Bolowotan Memorial Gold Cup, after beautiful game of soccer played in the second round of the competitions which ended on Sunday.

The quarter finals will kick – off today (Wednesday, January 24), at the traditional playing ground for the competition – Police Barracks Playing Ground, Igbogbo Road, Ikorodu.

The eight teams that will be slugging it out in the quarter final matches are: SHARON FC, OWUTU AGRIC, INFINTE FOOTBALL ACADEMY, IGBOGBO, ABLAZE FC, CELE IJEDE ROAD, MAKBETH FC, IBESHE, GREATER HEIGHTS FC, AGUNFOYE IGBOGBO, RIGHT TO SMILE FC, IPAKAN COMMUNITY IJEDE, ADOSAG INT’L FC and DELUXE FC.

After the conclusion of the Round of 16, three players are topping the goal chart.

Toheeb Abiodun of the Infinite Football Academy, Iggbogbo, is leading with 6goals. The player was the saviour of his team, scoring the lone goal that they needed to secure a place in the quarter finals.

Toheeb is also the record holder of the highest goals scored in a single match in the competition. He scored 4goals in a match against Buquenson FC.

Damola Oluwa of Greater Heights FC, Agunfoye, Igbogbo, is second on the chart with 5goals. He has played only two (2) matches for his team out of the four (4) played so far in the competition. He was the hero in the knockout stage (Round of 16) with a spectacular hat – trick.

Oluwa is one of the few players to have won Ikorodu City FC Sponsored Man of the Match Award on two occasions.

The third player on the chart, Mohammed Sodiq of Right To Smile FC, Ipakan Community, Ijede, has 4goals. A teenager doing marvelous thing on the pitch and playing a major role in the performance of his team so far.

He scored two (2) brilliant goals against Formidable FC in the knockout stage (Round of 16).
